Privacy Policy
PeerBasis ("we," "us," or "our"), a service of Prismind Analytics LLC, provides nonprofit executive-compensation comparability information built from public IRS filings. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have. By using peerbasis.org (the "Service"), you agree to this Policy.
1. Information we collect
1.1 Information you provide
- Search and report inputs: the organization names, EINs, roles, and compensation amounts you enter to generate analyses. These are used to produce your results and may be retained in server logs.
- Payment information: if you purchase a report, payment is processed by our payment provider, Stripe. We do not receive or store your full card number; we receive a transaction confirmation and limited metadata (for example, the EIN associated with the purchase and the last four digits or card brand as provided by Stripe).
- Communications: any information you include when you email us.
1.2 Information collected automatically
- Log and device data: IP address, browser type, pages requested, referring URLs, and timestamps, collected by our hosting provider (Cloudflare) for security, performance, and abuse prevention.
- Cookies and similar technologies: we use cookies necessary to operate the Service and complete payments, and analytics cookies set by Google Analytics (Google LLC) to measure traffic and understand how the Service is used. Google Analytics is configured with IP anonymization. We do not use advertising cookies and do not enable Google's advertising features. You can block cookies in your browser; the core Service will still work.
1.3 Public data
Our compensation database is compiled from the IRS Form 990 e-file dataset and the IRS Business Master File. This information concerns organizations and the compensation they reported to the federal government; it is public record.
2. How we use information
- To provide, operate, and improve the Service and generate the analyses and reports you request;
- To process payments and deliver purchased reports;
- To secure the Service, prevent abuse, and debug problems;
- To respond to your inquiries; and
- To comply with legal obligations.
We do not sell your personal information.
3. How we share information
We share information only with service providers that help us operate, and as required by law:
- Stripe — payment processing, subject to Stripe's privacy policy;
- Cloudflare — hosting, content delivery, database, and security;
- Google Analytics (Google LLC) — IP-anonymized usage analytics, subject to Google's privacy policy;
- Legal and safety — when we believe disclosure is necessary to comply with law, enforce our terms, or protect rights and safety.
Reports may link to third-party sources such as ProPublica's Nonprofit Explorer; those sites have their own policies.
4. Data retention
We retain request logs for a limited period for security and operational purposes, and purchase records as needed for accounting, tax, and legal compliance. We retain the public compensation dataset for as long as we operate the Service.
5. Security
We use reputable infrastructure (Cloudflare, Stripe) and reasonable administrative and technical measures to protect information. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
6. Your choices and rights
Depending on your location, you may have rights to access, correct, or delete personal information we hold about you, or to object to or restrict certain processing (for example, under the GDPR or the CCPA/CPRA). To exercise these rights, contact hello@peerbasis.org. Note that compensation figures sourced from public IRS filings are public record and are generally not "personal information" we can remove from the public domain; requests concerning an organization's filed data should be directed to the IRS.
7. Children's privacy
The Service is intended for organizations and professionals and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
8. International users
The Service is operated from the United States and concerns U.S. tax-exempt organizations. If you access it from outside the U.S., you consent to processing in the United States.
9. Changes to this Policy
We may update this Policy from time to time. We will revise the "Last updated" date above and, where appropriate, provide additional notice.
